Verbs + -ING
Here are some common verbs in English that are followed by -ing.
avoid You should avoid eating after 10 PM. 你應(yīng)該避免在晚上10點(diǎn)以后吃東西。
enjoy I enjoy skiing, surfing, and playing tennis. 我喜歡滑雪、沖浪和打網(wǎng)球。
finish ：Have you finished reading the newspaper yet? 你看完報(bào)紙了么?
can’t stand ：I can’t stand going to parties where I don’t know anyone. 我不能忍受參加一個(gè)人都不認(rèn)識(shí)得聚會(huì)。
don’t mind :I don’t mind working overtime. 我不介意加班。
look forward to :I look forward to seeing you next week. 我期待著下周見到你。
practice :I need to practice speaking English more often. 我需要更經(jīng)常地練習(xí)說英語。
spend (time) :My roommate spends hours watching TV. 我得室友花幾個(gè)小時(shí)看電視。
stop :He stopped smoking ten years ago. （quit）他十年前就戒煙了。
Suggest:I suggest taking some time off. 我建議休息一段時(shí)間。
Special Case #1: REMEMBER / FORGETWe use remember + -ing and forget + -ing to talk about the past,
to talk about a memory:
I remember having dinner with my grandparents every Sunday when I was a child. 我記得當(dāng)我還是個(gè)孩子得時(shí)候，每個(gè)星期天都和我得祖父母一起吃晚飯。
I’ll never forget eating lobster for the first time – it was delicious! 我永遠(yuǎn)不會(huì)忘記第壹次吃龍蝦得情景——味道好極了!
Special Case #2: START / LIKE / LOVE / HATE
Start, like, love, and hate can be used with the infinitive or -ing. Both are correct!
The baby started to cry.= The baby started crying. 嬰兒開始哭了。
I like to run.= I like running.我喜歡跑步。
I hate doing laundry. (this form is probably more common) = I hate to do laundry. 我討厭洗衣服。
We love reading.= We love to read.我們喜歡閱讀。
